June Date Diary
Bryan and I have this awesome tradition where we have a dedicated date every month and alternate between who plans them. The point of these monthly dates is to trysomething new, spend quality time together and keep the surprises comin’. I think that we have been doing this tradition for about 3 years now, and it’s been the best thing ever.
June was my month to plan, and I had the whole day planned around trying goat yoga at a local bar then visiting a new patio bar in Downtown Houston. We kicked off our morning with a breakfast for champions at Lee’s Fried Chicken and Donuts then toured over to the bar. Well, my plans were sidelined when I pulled up to the bar and realized that goat yoga was very obviously NOT happening (meaning there were no signs of goats or yoga… or goat yoga).
So there I was on date day, walking back to the car after double-checking that there were no goats (…or yoga… or goat yoga…) disappointed because my plans were ruined, but still stuck with the responsibility for making this day great. Bryan and I were both dressed in athleisure, so our choices were a bit limited and since I already planned on taking him to a patio bar, I decided to Google local breweries. No Label Brewing popped up and was perfect because it was on our way from downtown to our house, something new and similar to what I originally planned.
No Label Brewing was suuuuhweet. They had tons of draft options, had plenty of seating, were dog-friendly, had games to play and a fan in just about every corner to keep the hot air movin’. We will definitely be back with our pups in the near future!
I think that the best thing about this particular date day was the giant reminder of the most important thing about these dates – spending time with my husband and making memories together. Even more importantly, it was a reminder to trust Him and know that my plans may not be His plan. This goes for my life, year, week, day and even this very moment.
Reminders from Him – Our Plan vs. His Plan
Jeremiah 29:11
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
1 Thessalonians 5:18
18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 1:11
11 All things are done according to God’s plan and decision; and God chose us to be his own people in union with Christ because of his own purpose, based on what he had decided from the very beginning.
